On professional ethics in engineering education

Abstract

Examined is the process of formation and transformation of professional ethics as applied to engineering education. Shown is strengthening of the role of ethics in regulation of professional activities in innovative society due to increasing uncertainty and unpredictability of social development. Particular importance ethics gains for regulation of engineering activity in the era of post-industrialism. Moral competence becomes part of engineering professionalism, and engineering ethics is coming to responsibility of engineer for social results of technical project. Moral education and breeding of engineers is necessary to implement in the course of engineering ethics at technical university. The author formulated tasks of the course of engineering ethics, and determined grounds for taking technical decisions in today’s society.
