Focus on critical thinking in an Economics University

Abstract

The fourth industrial revolution, opening a new digital landscape of human practice, requires rethinking the educational paradigm. Attention is focused on the model of research education aimed at developing special methodological skills for working with information. The primary importance of critical thinking competence in the professional future of a university graduate is shown. The relationship between critical and logical thinking is revealed, logic is justified as a tool in education for developing critical thinking. The positions of the course «Logic and Critical Thinking» taught to students of the University of Economics are analyzed. The supporting structures of the course program in developing the ability to think effectively are demonstrated. A conclusion is made about the methodological significance of critical thinking in the study of professional courses.
