Abstract

Researched is the theme of modern challenges, facing the higher education system. One of the main challenges is replenishment of educational process with that kind of subject content, which will help and allow student to form oneself as competent specialist and as broad-minded and deeply feeling person. Competence today is an extremely multifaceted characteristic it has a variety of dimensions. One of the key aspects is a socio-cultural dimension, when a specialist is able to integrate one’s professional activities into various cultural environments, to analyse cultural contexts, to understand their specifics, limitations they impose and opportunities they provide, to correlate particular to general, socio-cultural, etc. In the article we discuss one of ways of creating of this type of cultural competence by means of educational subject content, more exactly by means of two-stage disciplinary model “history & culturology”. We prove, firstly, fundamental importance of subject-content aspect itself, but not only of environmental one, for creating of this competence type, and, secondly, reveal step-by-step teaching of history and theory and history of culture (culturology) potential on the basis of these sciences deep relationship.
