Abstract

The article examines the problem of developing students’ stress resistance in the context of institutional transformations in modern higher education. The authors conceptualize the university not only as an educational organization but also as a social institution that provides professional training and socialization for young people. The aim is to identify institutional barriers to the implementation of preventive stress-management practices in universities and to test an adapted pedagogical technology as an element of an institutional support system. The methodological framework includes institutional analysis, P. Bourdieu’s theory of social capital, and the concept of resilience in education. The empirical basis is the results of an experiment (n = 20) conducted at the Altai State Institute of Culture and the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of the Altai State Pedagogical University. Results. Institutional barriers are identified: regulatory deficits, organizational fragmentation, reactive funding logic, and lack of KPIs. The authors’ adaptation of the simulation-activity approach demonstrates statistically significant effectiveness (a 27.1% reduction in situational anxiety and a 31.4% increase in the quality of public speaking; p < 0.05). Scientific novelty lies in the institutional analysis of barriers to the implementation of stress-prevention practices in Russian universities of culture and sports, as well as in the development of specific proposals for the institutionalization of preventive work. Conclusions. The necessity of transitioning from a reactive model of psychological support to a proactive model integrated into the educational process is substantiated. The article is addressed to researchers in the sociology of education, higher education educators, and organizers of educational work at universities.
