Abstract

Digital technologies have a significant impact on the social and industrial spheres, where they act as a catalyst for innovation, modernization of the industrial structure and development directions according to Industry 4.0 and 5.0 concepts. In this context, the concept and essence of the engineering education digital environment is considered, and its role is analyzed in systemic transformation. The purpose of the article is to identify the tasks for engineering education digitalization and its directions and elements, based on this.

The emerging problems of the engineering education system digitalization are related to the scale and quality of its main functions and processes coverage, in our opinion. These problems can be conditionally structured according to external and internal factors, as well as subjective and objective reasons for their occurrence. Digitalization of education can be aimed at personalized training providing of future engineers based on the interests coordinating of students, employers and universities.

The concepts of personal industrial automation and production setup are being implemented in practice in connection with industrial digitalization, and therefore engineering thinking must also be transformed. Important additional foundations of modern engineering thinking are communications, humanistic principles in creative thinking, as well as the experience of critical thinking. A relevant information environment is required to develop creative engineering thinking.
