Abstract
This paper presents the results of sociological monitoring devoted to the study of social capital of residents of the Vologda Oblast. The relevance of the study is determined by the importance of identifying the level of social involvement, trust and interaction within the youth community. Understanding this allows us to assess the potential for creating conditions for strengthening social cohesion, increasing the activity of the younger generation and creating sustainable public relations, which ultimately contributes to the social development of the region and the formation of an active civic position among young people. Using the indicator model for measuring social capital, all respondents were divided into five levels / categories depending on their accumulated level of social capital. The study identified the level of social capital of young people both in the Vologda Oblast as a whole and specifically in its two largest cities, the administrative (Vologda) and industrial (Cherepovets) centers. The differences in the level of social capital of young people from the general regional level are shown, and time changes in the level of social capital of both the region as a whole and individual cities are analyzed. A conclusion is made about the impact of the crisis on the level of social capital in the region and the rates of post-crisis recovery in individual cities are studied.
