The Professional Activity of Academic Staff in Higher Education Institutions: Methods for Evaluating

Abstract

The development and implementation of systems for evaluating the performance of university academic staff is one of the elements of the contemporary system of higher education management. The article explores the principal methods for evaluating the performance of academic staff which are used by Russian universities when offering a variety of incentives, conducting competitive elections or completing other procedures. The authors consider the advantages and disadvantages of the applied methods.
