Abstract

Analyzing the worldwide intensification of ethnicity, the authors consider ethnos and nation not as mutually exclusive but as stably coexisting social groups. The differences between the phenomena of ethnos and nation are shown. It is concluded that the systemic crisis of the nation generated by globalization leads to a compensatory activation of ethnic social structures and ethnic consciousness.
