Abstract

Examined is the process of development of academic freedom from 13th to 16th centuries. Conclusion is made, that this phenomenon developed in complex situation of control over universities by state power, domination of scholastic thinking and financial difficulties, as well as perception of humanistic ideas and methods of experimental science.
