Abstract
The article presents a theoretical and methodological analysis of some aspects of the study on the topic “Specifics of identification of socio-professional groups of highly qualified workers in Russia”, conducted at the Irkutsk State University. An overview of the main transformations of the social status of socio-professional groups is provided, and the features of their identification are revealed taking into account the transition of the Russian economy to the post-industrial period. The work determines the specificity of the relationship between professional activity, group consciousness and the main content of labor motivation of highly qualified workers. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that the motivation of highly qualified workers is based on factors determined by the social group of professionals; the basis of group relations is the relationship of the owners of professional capital, reflecting the features of their professional and social behavior.
